I appreciate your plain speaking, Rural land can be an excellent place to live and raise a family, even if you work in town, We were on the electric grid, but had our own water and fuel. In 1977 we built a 3-bedroom house, doing most of the work ourselves. We enjoyed country life including our home-grown veggies. Of course, being a long distance from work (and many other things) we wore out a lot of vehicles during 39 years.🙂

Hey, I just bought the plans to your coop on Etsy....I'm wondering if the 5/8" X 6"x8" Picket Fence Panel is a typo?? I can not find it in 8" only "6....Also did you use treated wood for the floor joists or does that not matter since its not sitting on the ground? I am seriously about to start making this coop and want to make sure I have details correct. Also, if you can offer any other tips that you might have forgotten about, that would be so much appreciated:)

Im sorry but in Canada its awhole another story. You can't get apprenticeship unless you go to pre-apprenticeship course or find someone who knows you since birth. Like i dream of being a furniture maker but thats a pipe dream as people rather buy ikea than handmade stuff. Like your username is homestead, you live on a farm right? That also a pipe dream in canada. So i want to work with my hands but its either retail or office in my country!

Been doing HVAC/Sheetmetal mechanic for almost 40 now so I do have insight as an older man. Most trade work is so hard on your body.there is a reason you don’t see many older techs still working in the field and there is limited amount of office and supervisor jobs.yes the money can be great but at what cost to your health. My hands,knees and back are shot.for the past 20 years I suffer with horrible chronic back pain no surgery can fix.life now is pain meds,back injections and nerve blocks in back twice a year just to barely get by. Everyone is talking up the trades but barely talk about the cons

I mix my chicken and goat feed in my cement mixer! I get a better mix and it's a lot faster!!
